Google Ads cost in India: what to expect

By Reckona AIUpdated 28 July 20268 min read

Google Ads cost is entirely auction-based, so 'how much does it cost' really means 'how competitive is my industry's auction.' Here's a realistic range by category, and the budget math that actually matters.

Typical cost-per-click ranges by category

CategoryTypical CPC range
Local services (salons, repair, small retail)₹5 – ₹25
B2C ecommerce₹10 – ₹40
B2B / professional services₹30 – ₹150+
Finance, insurance, legal₹80 – ₹300+

These vary significantly by exact keyword competitiveness and location — a national keyword in a crowded category costs far more than the same term in a smaller city.

Ad spend vs total campaign cost

The number you see quoted — CPC — is only the media spend to Google. Total campaign cost also includes management (either an agency fee or your team's time), creative production, and landing page work. A common mistake is budgeting only for ad spend and having nothing left for the creative and conversion work that determines whether that spend actually converts.

What a minimum viable budget looks like

Budget for CRO, not just clicks. A cheaper CPC with a poorly converting landing page loses to a pricier CPC with a page that actually converts — see our landing page checklist.
