By Reckona AIUpdated 27 July 20267 min read

"AI SEO" gets used two different ways — optimizing your site to be found by AI answer engines, and using AI tools to do traditional SEO work faster. Both matter, but they're not the same thing. Here's the difference, plainly.

The two meanings of "AI SEO"

MeaningWhat it involves
Optimizing for AI enginesGetting cited, recommended and described correctly inside ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews — what most people mean by "GEO"

How AI SEO differs from traditional SEO

They're not competitors. Clean technical foundations, real expertise and structured content help both disciplines — AI SEO adds on top of good traditional SEO, it doesn't replace it.
